Practical is my middle name. I can't help it. These before and after pictures are perfect examples. We moved into our house about 2 years ago and were so excited because this was our dream home. We had this great formal dining room. Except for the fact, we aren't formal dining room kind of people. For the past two years the room has been where the dogs sleep. In addition, I realized AFTER we moved in that the laundry room was far too small and it was also the room that we used to enter the house. So you had people coming in and out of the house, as well as mom trying to do laundry.
So about four months ago, I had this brilliant idea to move the laundry room to the other side of the wall into the formal dining room. It isn't quite finished yet, as we still need our cabinets, doors and countertops, but I have room to do laundry! Plus, when the boys get older, I envision it being a homework/project/craft room. My husband is probably secretly happy as well because we won't be buying china hutches or a formal dining room table!

wow, very practical!! Have a great Saturday.
Seems like a big project, but more practical. I hope you finish it soon, and all goes well. Gives you a much larger laundry room too. Can never had enough space when it comes to laundry,.. lol. Great photos and have a good weekend.
Whatever works for you is what's right!
It sounds like a lot of work, but very practical indeed. Good luck with your project!
My practical photos.
Now that seems such a good and practical idea to me. In so many of the houses we have lived in, I've ended up doing the laundry in what feels like a dungeon. Excellent entry for this week!
Welcome to the Photo Hunt:)
That first shot is amazing. Thanks.
it is very practical of you to think that! lucky dogs...hahahaha. :)
thanks for the visit!
happy weekend! :)
wow! If our laundry room's like that... I'd definitely enjoy doing laundry! ^-^
Know what you mean about dining rooms. Mine has formal furniture, but you can never see it because it's covered with scrapbooking stuff.
Hi Lorian,

(floods in England, polar ice and ice caps at moutain peaks melting, I think more severe and frequent hurricanes in US, rain when it is supposed to be a dry season in my country, someone from Queensland recently contacted me if I noticed the weather changing. I replied when I was young I had to sleep under the blanket, but now I sleep topless. If I remembered, he said it is freezing in tropical Queensland and now he has to sleep under a blanket. Please folks, take good care of our one and only Spaceship Earth which have no lifeboat. It may not affect us severely now, but it has every chance of severely affecting our future generations. Then they will have lots to be "thankful to us)
That's a terrific use of the room! Hope you'll post a finished shot.
Sometimes it takes a lot of work to arrive at practical, but worth it. :)
Very practical indeed!!
Happy Weekend.
What a practical use of a room. Our "formal dining room" is an office. Painted it blood red. :-)

That's practical thinking!! love the large window of that room.
Happy weekend :)
great photos! Happy Weekend!
Your house is very neat, I am sure you are practical person! Good luck for the project and hope you can show us the picture again after you finish the project :-)
Thanks for visiting mine.
That's one heck of a project - and yes, very practical. :)
I love a laundry room with a chair-rail! Way to put an otherwise wasted space to good use. I bet the dogs like the sound of the dryer running as they sleep, too! (And thanks for tagging my blog!)
